Our Story

From Southern Italy to Florida

Bella Vista began with a simple idea: to share the food, hospitality, and culture of Italy with the people around us.
Our story starts in Sicignano Degli Alburni, a small farming town in Southern Italy, where Giovanni grew up.  Nestled in the mountains of the Salerno region, Giovanni learned at a young age that food was never just food, it was how people gathered, celebrated, and caught up.  And there was always room for one more at the table.
While studying culinary arts, Giovanni worked as a server in some of Southern Italy's coastal hotels. It was there that he learned something that would stay with him: a great restaurant isn't only about what comes out of the kitchen. It's about how you feel when you're sitting at the table.
In 2015, Giovanni moved to New York City, bringing his Italian roots with him and discovering a new side of food through the Italian-American communities around him.

A Dream Served at Bella Vista

Years later, that journey brought us to Florida.  Bella Vista opened in Fruit Cove in 2022, with the hope of creating the kind of neighborhood restaurant where people could come for dinner and feel like they belonged.  
Today, Bella Vista is still family-owned and still rooted in that same idea.  We cook the food we love. We pour the wine we enjoy. We celebrate the traditions that shaped us, while making room for the Italian-American influences and the people who have become part of our story here.
You don't have to know Italy to enjoy Bella Vista. Just come hungry, bring someone you love, and let us share a little bit of our heart with you.
